Biography of Amy Carmichael

Amy Carmichael was an Irish missionary who served in India for more than fifty years, rescuing vulnerable children and establishing the Dohnavur Fellowship. Her writings reflect deep spiritual insight and compassion.

Carmichael wrote devotional poems that were later set to music and used in worship at Dohnavur. She also introduced translated hymns and encouraged indigenous musical expression as part of daily devotion.

She collaborated with Indian women, caregivers, and mission supporters who helped build and sustain the Dohnavur Fellowship.
