Biography of David Livingstone

David Livingstone was a Scottish missionary and explorer whose work in central Africa combined evangelism, medical care, and geographic discovery. His journeys opened new regions to mission work and brought global attention to the African continent. His commitment to ending the slave trade shaped much of his life and legacy.

Livingstone used translated hymns and familiar Scottish psalms during worship gatherings with local communities. He often relied on simple melodies to teach Christian doctrine and used hymn singing to build unity among new believers. His journals describe moments when hymns provided comfort during long expeditions and times of isolation.

Livingstone collaborated with African guides, local chiefs, mission societies in Britain, and indigenous communities who supported his travels and helped spread Christian teaching.
